Paula, and ..others
Wow..it's been over a month since I published anything on here.
The last time I posted, I'd just come back from seeing George Carlin. I saw another one of my favorite comedians..Paula Poundstone. Oh MY GOD. I saw her (sort of) at Town Hall in 1992..but our seats were up so high, had we gone another 10 feet, our usher would have been a stewardess/flight attendant.
This time, 12 years later, I was up reasonably close, the sound system was good. Paula rocked SO hard. Paula's modus operandi on stage, is to have ...a certain portion of the show be prepared material, and to work the audience for the rest. She asks people what they do for a living, or where they're from....and..she just riffs on it.
Sometimes for 20 minutes or more. And then, after she gets done with one, she'll move on to another..and then play the two off against each other. It was an amazing two hours and ten minutes of comedy. Truly Astounding! She's one of my faves. I approached her about doing her website. Sadly, she'd found someone. I wanted to do it, because, as I told her "We December 29th girls have to stick together!".
In her show on April 30, 2004, she talked about her
legal problems in the early part of this decade, and her time in rehab. Wow, she was astounding.
The strangest thing about this venue, Birchmere, in Alexandria VA, was ..that it was a dinner theater venue.
People got there a couple of hours before showtime to get good seats, they had a big dinner, and then Paula came on and kicked some comedy ass.
This old geezer with a fat wife was sitting next to me. He said something like "There sure are a lot of lesbians here...Does that turn you on?" I told him that he'd best shut his fat-fuck mouth, or some of the rougher lesbians would rip his asshole a new asshole.
Paula has a big following among the lesbians.
Oh, my. More later.
